Our roadmap is the Bible–filled with truth for knowing God and finding our way in our crazy, mixed-up world. From its beginning, UMI has been dedicated to providing tools you and your church can use to mine the truths of God’s Word.
The materials UMI produces and distributes are biblically sound and especially suited for the life challenges of African Americans. They are prepared by persons who are committed to faith in our Lord Jesus, skilled in their professions, and knowledgable of the people for whom they write.
All of UMI’s educational materials are based on the International Uniform Lesson Series. Founded in 1872 by the National Sunday School Convention, this internationally recognized lesson outline is prepared by a committee of ministers and Bible scholars from across a wide variety of established denominations. This diversity helps ensure that God’s Word is being interpreted faithfully, and enables churches, congregations, and families to study the same passages of Scripture together each week.
Each week’s lesson features detailed Bible background with thoroughly researched interpretations, explorations, and historical context to help students grow in their knowledge of God’s Word. As well as providing “head knowledge,” every lesson includes specific applications that show how the scriptural truths can affect our attitudes and actions. This balanced emphasis on knowing, feeling, and doing helps ensure that students are well-rounded in their spiritual development.
When you use UMI materials, you can be sure that they were prepared with sound knowledge of God’s Word that translates directly to your life.
